Having grown up sailing in Chichester Harbour he started working with boats whilst still at school and decided quite early on that the marine world was where he wanted to be. JBT Marine (specialist Rigid Inflatable Boat business http://www.ribsforsale.com/) was born, JBT Marine has been going for 14 years and is now run on a day-to-day basis by a very capable and loyal team. Jonny took over Thornham Marina, Emsworth, in 2004 and with his four-strong team has over the years improved the marina's functionality and appeal. Thornham Marina has a powerful sub-lift to raise and lower boats, and a number of marine tenants which is a huge benefit for customers working on their boats. He is now concentrating his time on Trafalgar Wharf, which is fast becoming one the best places to Lift, launch, store and maintain your boat on the South Coast. You might have seen him on Scrapheap Challenge and Scrappy Races as one of the members of the Boat Buoys. He loves to sail when he gets time, but also spending time with his family and showing his two little girls what sailing and RIBs are all about. | Simon Oatley – Operations Manager Simon was based at the British Kiel Yacht Club for 12 years where as a RYA Instructor introduced hundreds of novice sailors to the sport. He has sailed widely throughout the Baltic and Europe, undertaken a trans-Atlantic crossing and many passages to Madeira and the Canaries. He was one of the youngest ever people to be awarded an MBE at the age of 28. His vast knowledge of sailing and racing, which includes a win in the Fastnet, and his time sail training means he has a wealth of knowledge. | Lisa Simpson – Sales Manager Lisa has worked in the marine industry for many years - from selling boats to living in Brazil overseeing the development and production of new dinghy hardware. She started her boating life as a baby on Lake Windermere with her family - and learnt to swim in it! She also speaks Portuguese and has driven a Lamborghini Gallardo round a race track! | Tony Parkinson – Site Manager & Health and Safety Officer Tony started out as a shipwright and progressed to becoming the hoist and crane foreman at the Haven Boatyard, which he did for 28 years. He joined Trafalgar Wharf in 2009 as Site Supervisor and Health and Safety Officer. Tony is also an Advanced Powerboat Instructor and has been involved with the Scout Movement for over 30 years. Since moving to Southwick he has taken the position of Area Commissioner for Fareham East and is working with young people. Tony was recently awarded the Scout Associations ‘Honour of the Silver Acorn’ for outstanding service to the movement. His proudest moment was being invited to Buckingham Palace for a royal garden party and talking to Her Royal Highness Princess Anne and the Duke of Edinburgh and also watching the changing of the guard from the front door is something he won’t forget. Tony enjoys walking, entertaining friends and family at BBQs, cooking and spending valuable time with his family. | Philip Weight - Yard Operative Phil started work at Trafalgar as a trainee yard operative, he’s in his third year with us and is now a fully-fledged Yard Operative. Before joining Trafalgar he worked as a labourer for a landscaping firm all around Hampshire. ‘I have to say I've thoroughly enjoying the experience so far. Every day I feel it is a pleasure to come and work….everyone is very friendly.’ Out of work Phil is a semi-professional session drummer. He’s played for, and supported various bands in such venues as the 'Wedgewood Rooms' and the 'Joiners Arms' of Southampton where artists such as Razorlight, Pete Dougherty and the Arctic monkeys have played. Most important of all, he always makes sure Tony gets his brew! | Catherine Davies - Accounts Manager Catherine worked for a variety of different Accountancy practices before becoming self employed. At Trafalgar Wharf Catherine looks after our accounts, but she isn't just any regular accountant but she's our accounts extraordinaire, responsible for all invoicing on site including our Drystack, Boat Park and Boat Yard. She keeps us all in check and we would be lost with out her! In her spare time theres nothing she likes more than relaxing with the family in the garden. Mike "Flipper" Seal - Drystack Supervisor Mike was born into a military family and as a child lived in Kenya, Singapore and Germany, returning to Gosport at the age 12. He become a part of the communication and logistics crew on the world renowned Camel Trophy, a land and water based endurance event held worldwide. Mike became known as ‘Flipper’ not only a radio friendly call sign but an easy nickname to remember. The 2000 Camel Trophy event was a water based event with 60 identical RIBs taking part. It was held in Tonga/Samoa. Flipper returned to the UK to oversee the return of the 60 Camel trophy RIBs, of which 40+ were acquired by JBT Marine. He has worked within the marine industry for many years including working at one of the first drystack facilities to be established on the South Coast of England. He has now joined the team at Trafalgar Wharf to help establish what will be the largest indoor drystack in the UK. Luke Habermann – Drystack Manager  Luke joined the team fresh in from Australia. A strong interest in motorcycles lead him to start his working life in the automotive industry but after teaching himself to sail and discovering a love for the sport on the way he decide to change careers. At Trafalgar Wharf Luke organises the launches and recoveries for all the boats. He also carries out inductions alongside Flipper to make sure all our Drystack customers are comfortable with the safety and general procedure of using the Drystack. In his spare time Luke enjoys sailing on the Solent, though he is still getting used to the cold water and Skydiving. |
