The Rolls Royce Ship Lift platform, which is 184 ft by 45 ft, has a long history at the site, and had been originally used by VT to work on Royal Navy vessels.

Testbank Ship Repair, who is managing the ship lift for Trafalgar Wharf, brought it back into use in April 2009, after 5 years of non-use.  The ship lift is rated to 877 ton and is effectively a mechanical dry-dock, hoisting large vessels out of the water for repair, repainting and maintenance.
